SUMMARY:(NET) New Glenn 7×2 • Blue Moon MK1 Pathfinder CLPS
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20260601
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20260602
UID:241453502709
DESCRIPTION:A Blue Origin New Glenn rocket will launch on its third? fligh
t\, carrying the Blue Moon Mark 1 Pathfinder\, designated MK1-SN001 and na
med Endurance\, to a lunar landing. NASA will fly a camera system to study
how engine plumes interact with regolith at south polar regions of the mo
on\, collecting data to support future crewed landing missions. The payloa
d\, called Stereo Cameras for Lunar Plume Surface Studies (SCALPSS)\, will
fly through NASA’s Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) program. Th
e spacecraft is 8.05m tall with a diameter of 3.08m and has a wet mass (fu
lly fuelled) of up to 21350kg. New Glenn will place Blue Moon into low Ear
th orbit\, remaining there for three to four orbits to do initial checkout
 s. It will then raise its apogee for additional tests\, including its high
-gain antenna system\, before performing a translunar injection maneuver t
o go to the Moon\, entering a low lunar orbit five to seven days later. Th
e spacecraft will conduct multiple subsystem characterisation activities i
n lunar orbit before attempting a landing. Powered by a single hydroLOX-fu
eled BE-7 engine\, the lander will aim to touch down within 10m of its int
ended target at Shackleton crater. New Glenn version 7×2 is equipped with
seven BE-4 LNG/LOX engines on the reusable GS1 first stage and two BE-3U
hydroLOX engines on the GS2 second stage.\n-\nDelayed from March\, June\,
 August and late 2025.
