DESCRIPTION:TITLE:  Computational investigations of trait\, gene and geno
 me evolution across the Tree of Life\n\nPhylogenomics" research includes t
 he application of genome-scale data to infer species relationships and com
 parative analyses of genome structure and gene content within the context 
 of a species phylogeny. Genome and transcriptome data are resolving relati
 onships among plant species and guiding comparative genomic analyses of th
 e evolution of gene content and genome structure across the green plant ph
 ylogeny. Moreover\, comparative and functional genomic analyses are elucid
 ating the molecular basis of variation in functional traits. The talk will
  cover how we are using comparative and functional genomics to identify ge
 nes contributing to parallel evolutionary innovations in a variety of meta
 bolic\, physiological and reproductive plant traits. Implications for plan
 t diversification and synthetic plant biology will be discussed.
