SUMMARY:Season of Suboro (Subbara)
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20261114
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20261115
UID:264540387501
DESCRIPTION:This is the first Sunday of the Season of Annunciation\, known
as Suboro or Subbara in Syriac. There are six Sundays leading to the Nati
vity\, and they are set in the sequential order of the Biblical narratives
:\n\n-Annunciation to St. Zachariah \n-Annunciation to St. Mary\n-Visitati
on of St. Mary to St. Elizabeth\n-Birth of St. John the Baptist\n-Revelati
on to St. Joseph the Righteous\n-Sunday before Christmas\n\nUnlike the Lat
in tradition\, wherein Advent is centered around the theme of expectation\
, the theme of Subbara is the theology of fulfillment.\n\nThe pattern of S
uboro emphasizes a typological orientation to salvation history. Prayers o
f this season are replete with Biblical allusions from the Old Testament\,
all of which point to Christ and His Incarnation\; "blessed is He who cam
e and fulfilled the mysteries and types and figures."
