DESCRIPTION:October 10th is the anniversary of the demise of Mor Dionysius
  IV (Cheppad Philipose) +1855. Mor Dionysius IV was the Malankara Metropol
 itan from 1825 until 1852 when he was forced to abdicate by the Protestant
  CMS. \n\nMor Dionysius IV (Cheppad Philipose) convened the Synod of Mavel
 ikara at St. Mary's Jacobite Syrian Church in 1836. At this Synod it was r
 eaffirmed that the Malankara Church was part of & under the authority of t
 he Syriac Orthodox Patriarchate\, & that no alteration in the faith\, trad
 itions or liturgy of the Malankara Church could be made without the sancti
 on of the Supreme Pontiff the Patriarch of Antioch. These decisions are re
 corded in what is known as the Mavelikara Padiyola of 1836.\n\nAfter servi
 ng the Malankara Church for many decades\, Mor Dionysius IV departed for t
 he heavenly abode & his mortal remains were interred in Cheppad St. George
