DESCRIPTION:The presence of amines in reactive CO2 capture introduces addi
 tional\ninterfacial complexity through the formation of amine–CO2 adduct
 s\nwhose speciation\, charge\, and transport properties directly govern\ne
 lectrocatalytic performance. Here\, we show that the solvent\nenvironment 
 controls the nature of these adducts and\, consequently\,\ntheir reactivit
 y and selectivity at solid–liquid interfaces. Using\nmonoethanolamine (M
 EA) in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO)\, we demonstrate a\nshift from ionic carb
 amate–ammonium pairs in aqueous media to\npredominantly neutral carbamic
  acid species in nonaqueous electrolyte.\nThis transition reduces electros
 tatic screening by ammonium ions\,\nenhances accessibility of the reactive
  CO2 intermediate at the\ninterface\, and suppresses competing proton-coup
 led reactions such as\nhydrogen evolution. As a result\, selective CO form
 ation is achieved\nwith Faradaic efficiencies up to ~78% using earth-abund
 ant catalysts\nunder pure CO2 feeds\, and ~35–43% at current densities n
 ear 100 mA\ncm-2 under oxygen-rich conditions representative of flue gas (
 17% CO2\,\n17% O2). Stability tests over tens of electrochemical cycles sh
 ow\nminimal loss in selectivity\, indicating the robustness of the\nnonaqu
 eous capture–conversion system. Collectively\, these results\nestablish 
 solvent-controlled amine speciation as a key design\nparameter for enginee
 ring reactive capture electrolytes under\nindustrially relevant conditions
 .\n
