DESCRIPTION:January 1st is commemoration of the dukhrono of All Holy Fathe
 rs & Doctors of the Church along with St. Basil & St. Gregory of Nyssa (du
 khrono abohotho qadishe wmalfone d'ito wad Mor Baselios u Mor Gregorios d'
 nawsa)\n\nToday we remember those who labored for the one true faith of th
 e Syriac Orthodox Church. The fathers & theologians remembered are those w
 ho defended the sound Orthodox doctrine during the 3 Holy Ecumenical Synod
 s & also those who protected the Church during times of terrible persecuti
 on afterwards. These Holy fathers handed down the Apostolic teachings & th
 e genuine\, undefiled\, incorruptible faith even if it meant they'd be mar
 tyred. The Church also specially commemorates St. Basil of Caesarea & his 
 younger brother St. Gregory of Nyssa\, both of whom were erudite theologia
 ns. The pair along with St. Gregory of Nazianzus are known as the Cappadoc
 ian Fathers. In honour of the two brothers\, the Syriac Orthodox Catholico
 se of the East (Maphriyano) uses the title Baselios while the Syriac Ortho
 dox archbishop of Jerusalem previously used the title Gregorios. \n\nThe d
 ismissal hymn (Taw nadayed dukhronoayhoon/Orthodukso Vishwasam) \nsung on 
 this day honours some of these fathers with special epithets:\n\n1. St. Ig

 the sweet waterfall \n\n4. St. John Chrysostom +407 (Mor Ivanios) Patriarc
 h of Constantinople\, called the golden mouth \n\n5. St. Basil +379 (Mor B
 aselios) bishop of Caesarea \n\n6. St. Gregory +395 (Mor Gregorios) bishop
  of Nyssa\, called the great \n\n7. St. Dioscorus +454 (Mor Dioscorus) Pat
