This work bridges synthetically accessible\nisoxazoles with th eir less accessible pyrrole counterparts in an\nO-to-C skeletal edit. Our investigations of this reaction led to the\nrevision of a previously estab lished mechanism for pyrrole formation\,\nsupported by experimental and co mputational results. Further studies\nrevealed an interesting side reactio n\, and from this a predictive\nmodel for reaction outcome was developed\, deepening our understanding\nof both reactions.
