DESCRIPTION:India’s Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV)\, fly
 ing on the GSLV-F1? mission\, will launch the NVS 3 navigation satellite f
 or ISRO. It is the third next generation satellite in the fleet and will r
 eplace the failed NVS 2 satellite in the Indian Regional Navigation Satell
 ite System NavIC\, which aims to improve positioning services over India a
 nd neighboring regions. It will be positioned at 111.75º East\, to replac
 e IRNSS 1E.\n-\nNVS 3 (NVS-03) is the twelfth satellite in the Navigation 
 with Indian Constellation (NavIC) and the third 2nd generation NavIC satel
 lite. This new series of satellites have a launch mass of 2250kg\, incorpo
 rate L1 band signals additionally to L5 and S-band and use indigenous atom
 ic clocks. The satellite is powered by two solar arrays\, which generate u
 p to 1660 Watts\, and has a lifetime of 12 years.\nThree of the satellites
  in the NavIC constellation are in GEO (Geostationary Orbit) at 32.5°\, 8
 3° and 131.5° East\, while four satellites are in an inclined geosynchro
 nous orbit with an inclination of 29° with longitude crossing at 55° and
  111.75° East. All satellites are inter-operable and compatible with GPS 
 and Galileo.
