John's older brother is St. James. He was the youngest of the disciples\, & unlike the others he did not face martyrdom. John was the only Apostle present by Je sus' side at the crucifixion. Christ entrusted the care of St. Mary to Joh n as he was the one 'Jesus loved the most'. St. Mary lived under John's ca re until her death. \n\nSt. John lived in Jerusalem & later moved to Ephes us. He authored the Gospel & 3 epistles in his name. The book of Revelatio n was also written by him. He built many churches in Turkey & evangelized many to Christianity. Tradition states that he lived to 120 years of age. A church was built over the site of his tomb. However\, this was converted to a mosque.\n\nHuthomo: https://youtu.be/Sg1DcHVxmDo\n\nThe Syriac Histo ry of John (Apocryphal hagiography of St. John son of Zebedee): http://bit .ly/JohnSyriac\n\nSt. Severus of Antioch hymn on St. John the Evangelist:\ n\n"All the peoples shall bless him" (Psalms 72:17)\nThe preacher and Apos tle\, John the Evangelist\, who by Christ\, even God\, his Master\, was b efore named 'son of thunder'\, and for this reason divinely thundered with loud voice the words\, "In the beginning was the Word\, and the Word was with God\, and the Word was God"\, and stirred up and instilled wonder in all the ears of wise and of unwise.
