DESCRIPTION:A SpaceX Falcon 9 Block 5 rocket will launch the U.S. Air Forc
 e’s ninth third-generation navigation satellite for the Global Positioni
 ng System\, designated GPS III Space Vehicle 09 (GPS III SV09\, named Elli
 son Onizuka) into Medium Earth Orbit. The mission was switched from Vulcan
  to Falcon in early 2026. The Falcon 9 booster is designated B10XX.X for t
 his flight. The 2nd stage is equipped with a Mission Extension Kit. Compri
 sing a gray band on the RP-1 tank\, extra helium bottles & batteries\, thi
 s kit extends the life of the stage in-orbit\, allowing it to deploy the p
 ayload directly into its operational MEO.\n-\nThe GPS III satellites are t
 he third generation of satellites for the Global Positioning System. They 
 are based on Lockheed Martin's A2100A bus and have a launch mass of 3880kg
 . Unlike the GPS IIF satellite\, the GPS III satellite features an apogee 
 propulsion system. The GPS III program will improve position\, navigation\
 , and timing services for users worldwide and provide advanced anti-jam ca
 pabilities yielding superior system security\, accuracy and reliability. E
