You should receive a slack invite via email before the workshop. Make sure to join. All software training related communication should be made v ia slack.\nMake sure you complete the setup instruction below BEFORE the e vent. Should there be any questions\, please ask in the Slack channel.\nTo participate in the workshop\, you will need access to the software descri bed below "prerequisites". In addition\, you will need an up-to-date web b rowser.\nPlease note that the workshop will be recorded and that the video s will be publicly available.\nPrerequisites\nFor a video walk-through of the installation process\, please visit the indico page of our previous ev ent.\nPython\nPython is a popular language for research computing\, and g reat for general-purpose programming as well. Installing all of its resear ch packages individually can be a bit difficult\, so we recommend Anacond a\, an all-in-one installer.\nRegardless of how you choose to install it\,  please make sure you install Python version 3.x (e.g.\, 3.7 is fine).\n We will teach Python using the Jupyter notebook\, a programming environme nt that runs in a web browser. For this to work you will need a reasonably up-to-date browser. The current versions of the Chrome\, Safari and Firef ox browsers are all supported (some older browsers\, including Internet Explorer version 9 and below\, are not).\nROOT\nROOT is an open-source dat a analysis framework widely used by high-energy physicists. In all the HEP experiments it has become a fundamental tool\, and you will have to learn the basics. You can read more about ROOT on the official webpage.\nFor th is workshop\, no ROOT installation is required. Instead\, we will use ROOT via Jupyter Notebooks. Before the workshop starts\, please visit https:// github.com/root-project/student-course and read the instructions on the ma in page. Open GH Codespaces and let it load. You do not need to do anythin g else before the workshop. In case you have a CERN Computing account\, yo u can also use SWAN with the Bleeding Edge configuration. If so\, please c lick on the SWAN icon and verify that you can open the student-course fold er. In case of any issues\, we can solve them at the beginning of the ROOT session.\nIf you want to install ROOT on your machine (not needed for thi s workshop)\, please follow the [Installing ROOT](https://root.cern/instal l/) webpage\nScikit-HEP\nThe Scikit-HEP project is a community-driven and community-oriented project with the aim of providing Particle Physics at l arge with an ecosystem for data analysis in Python.\n\nHow to participate\ n\nRun the JupyterLab code with us\, altering examples and asking "what if " questions along the way. Please\, visit https://github.com/ianna/2025-06 -20-hsf-iris-hep-uproot-awkward-tutorial and read the instructions on the main page.\n\nRunning everything on your own computer\n\nEverything can b e installed with conda\, standard mechanism for installing Python packages . See environment.yml for a list of package names and versions.\nInstructo rs\n\nVincenzo Eduardo Padulano (CERN)\nSilia Taider (CERN)\nMarta Czurylo (CERN)\nAndres Rios-Tascon (Princeton University) \n\nMentors:\n\n \n\n  \nLocal organising committee:\n\nMichel Hernandez-Villanueva (BNL)\nRich a sharma (UPRM)\nValeriia Lukashenko (University of Zurich)\nAlexander Mor eno (Universidad Antonio Nariño)\n\n \n \n \n\nhttps://indico.cern.ch/ event/1616742/ LOCATION: END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT SUMMARY:28th EuroAD Workshop (at CERN) DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20251207 DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20251210 UID:150398953771 DESCRIPTION:https://indico.cern.ch/e/EuroAD-2025 LOCATION:CERN\, Espl. des Particules 1\, 1217 Genève\, Switzerland END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT SUMMARY:Tracking discussion DTSTART;VALUE=DATE-TIME:20251212T160000Z DTEND;VALUE=DATE-TIME:20251212T170000Z UID:328103127013 DESCRIPTION:Event URL: https://indico.cern.ch/event/1617347/\n\nWe have a corresponding e-group / mailing list: key4hep-tracking@cern.ch sign up via : e-groups.cern.ch\n\nhttps://indico.cern.ch/event/1617347/\n\nZoom: https ://cern.zoom.us/j/98484040528?pwd=QlBxZTNUZ2NZYmtHbFprV2JwTlZiZz09 LOCATION: END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT SUMMARY:CMS Week (Seoul) DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20251207 DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20251212 UID:323466720593 DESCRIPTION:CMS Week (Seoul) LOCATION: END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT SUMMARY:ALICE Week DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20251207 DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20251212 UID:169205880789 DESCRIPTION:https://indico.cern.ch/event/533819/ LOCATION: END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT SUMMARY:LHCb Week DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20251207 DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20251212 UID:148805138509 DESCRIPTION:LHCb Week LOCATION: END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT SUMMARY:Training WG Planning Meeting DTSTART;VALUE=DATE-TIME:20251215T150000Z DTEND;VALUE=DATE-TIME:20251215T160000Z UID:208452120077 DESCRIPTION:Event URL: https://indico.cern.ch/event/1613150/\n\nhttps://in dico.cern.ch/event/1613150/\n\nZoom: https://cern.zoom.us/j/62271073876?pw d=cFlvVCs1RUlVWTd4UlVJSFNQQU1LQT09 LOCATION:Virtual (CERN) END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT SUMMARY:HEP Software Foundation Coordination Meeting DTSTART;VALUE=DATE-TIME:20251218T140000Z DTEND;VALUE=DATE-TIME:20251218T150000Z UID:105352656594 DESCRIPTION:Event URL: https://indico.cern.ch/event/1477093/\n\nhttps://in dico.cern.ch/event/1477093/\n\nZoom: https://cern.zoom.us/j/68918153213?pw d=M0lMb29lR2FUdXljNnh3bk9XUjloZz09 LOCATION:32/S-C22 (CERN) END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT SUMMARY:66th Geant4 Technical Forum DTSTART;VALUE=DATE-TIME:20251218T140000Z DTEND;VALUE=DATE-TIME:20251218T170000Z UID:106789851419 DESCRIPTION:Event URL: https://indico.cern.ch/event/1615896/\n\nSpeakers: Benjamin Morgan (University of Warwick (GB))\, Marilena Bandieramonte (Uni versity of Pittsburgh (US))\, Alberto Ribon (CERN)\n\nWe are pleased to an nounce the 66th edition of the "Geant4 Technical Forum"\, the forum for Ge ant4 users and developers\, that will be held on Thursday\, December 18th\ , 2025\, from 14:00 to 17:00 Central European Time (CET). \nIt will be h eld in hybrid mode\, in person at CERN and over Zoom\nThe first part of th e Technical Forum will focus on the presentation from the Geant4 developer s of the new Geant4 release: Geant4 version 11.4.
