DESCRIPTION:This Divine Liturgy is for the major feast day for St. Mary Ma
 gdalene\, the heavenly patroness of this mission parish. Part of her life 
 is of course recorded in the Holy Scriptures\, where she is noted as a dev
 oted follower of our Lord Jesus Christ who was delivered by Him from a sev
 en-fold demonic possession. Her loyalty was unswerving thereafter\, and\, 
 even when all others fled\, Mary of Magdala was "last at the Cross and fir
 st at the (empty) tomb." [Contrary to Western legend adn misinterpretation
  of the Gospels\, Mary was not a prostitute.] We do know of her life after
  Pentecost\, and that Mary was a wonderful evangelist\, and used a bird eg
 g to illustrate to the Emperor Tiberius that\, even in the sealed tomb\, r
 esurrection-life was at work in Jesus Christ. It is from Mary Magdalene th
 at we receive the tradition of the "Easter" egg and the Paschal greeting\,
  "Christ is risen!"
