You should receive a slack invite via email before the workshop. Make su re to join. All software training related communication should be made via slack.\nMake sure you complete the setup instruction below BEFORE the eve nt. Should there be any questions\, please ask in the Slack channel.\nTo p articipate in the workshop\, you will need access to the software describe d below "prerequisites". In addition\, you will need an up-to-date web bro wser.\nPlease note that the workshop will be recorded and that the videos will be publicly available.\nPrerequisites\nFor a video walk-through of th e installation process\, please visit the indico page of our previous even t.\nPython\nPython is a popular language for research computing\, and gre at for general-purpose programming as well. Installing all of its research packages individually can be a bit difficult\, so we recommend Anaconda\ , an all-in-one installer.\nRegardless of how you choose to install it\,  please make sure you install Python version 3.x (e.g.\, 3.7 is fine).\nWe will teach Python using the Jupyter notebook\, a programming environment that runs in a web browser. For this to work you will need a reasonably u p-to-date browser. The current versions of the Chrome\, Safari and Firefox browsers are all supported (some older browsers\, including Internet Ex plorer version 9 and below\, are not).\nROOT\nROOT is an open-source data analysis framework widely used by high-energy physicists. In all the HEP  experiments it has become a fundamental tool\, and you will have to lea rn the basics. You can read more about ROOT on the official webpage.\nIf y ou have installed Python via Anaconda\, ROOT is available as a conda packa ge. We suggest using a conda environment since it will bring in everyth ing that you need\, including Jupyter. On the Installing ROOT webpage\, you will find the instructions to set up the environment. \nScikit-HEP\n The Scikit-HEP project (HEP stands for High Energy Physics) is a community -driven and community-oriented project with the aim of providing Particle Physics at large with an ecosystem for data analysis in Python. \nYou can read more about Scikit-HEP on the official webpage.\nThe setup instructio ns for the training event are here (https://hsf-training.github.io/hsf-tra ining-scikit-hep-webpage/setup.html. We recommend using GitHub codespaces. \nInstructors\n\nVincenzo Eduardo Padulano (CERN)\nMarta Czurylo (CERN)\nJ onas Rembser (CERN) \nGuillermo Fildalgo (UPRM)\n\n \nMentors:\n\nAlexan der Moreno (Universidad Antonio Nariño)\nRicha Sharma (UPRM)\nRoy Cruz Ca ndelaria (Physics Department\, UPRM)\nTetiana Mazurets (Physics Department \, UPRM) \n\n \nLocal organising committee:\n\nSudhir Malik (UPRM\, IRIS -HEP)\nJim Pivarski (Princeton University)\nAlexander Moreno (Universidad Antonio Nariño)\nRicha Sharma (UPRM)\nLera Lukashenko (University of Zuri ch)\nHolly Szumila-Vance (Jefferson Lab)\n\n \n \n \n\nhttps://indico.c ern.ch/event/1408846/ LOCATION: END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT SUMMARY:HEP Software Foundation Coordination Meeting DTSTART;VALUE=DATE-TIME:20240606T130000Z DTEND;VALUE=DATE-TIME:20240606T140000Z UID:323774993586 DESCRIPTION:Event URL: https://indico.cern.ch/event/1355749/\n\nhttps://in dico.cern.ch/event/1355749/\n\nHSF Coordination Meeting: https://cern.zoom .us/j/68918153213?pwd=M0lMb29lR2FUdXljNnh3bk9XUjloZz09 LOCATION:32/S-C22 (CERN) END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT SUMMARY:18th International dCache Workshop DTSTART;VALUE=DATE-TIME:20240606T070000Z DTEND;VALUE=DATE-TIME:20240607T150000Z UID:165956977686 DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Marina Sahakyan (IT (IT Scientific Computing))\, Tig ran Mkrtchyan (DESY-IT\, Scientific Computing)\n\nThe 18th International d Cache workshop 2024 will take place from 2024-06-06 to 2024-06-07 in perso n and hosted by DESY-Hamburg. The meeting brings together the international scientific community pursuing a feasibility study for a visionary post-LHC research infrastructure at CERN and is organized with the support of the EU-funded H2020 FCCIS project.   Leading experts from academia and industry will review the recent progre ss en route to the completion of the feasibility study in 2025 and set the near-term goals for the coming years. The physics opportunities opened by the FCC integrated programme as well as the status of key technology R&D programmes will be discussed along with the technological opportunities on offer for building new collaborative projects. The meeting is an excellen t opportunity to reinforce the bonds between the FCC collaborating institu tes and to draft the work plans for the submission of the FCC mid-term rev iew to the CERN's Council later this year. The FCC Week 2024 will follow the traditional layout of plenary and parallel sessions covering all aspec ts of the study: physics\, experiments\, machine design\, technologies\, i nfrastructures and civil engineering. Tuesday features a set of plenary ke ynote presentations with top-ranking international speakers from the world of science\, industry and European affairs\, offering an overview about t he ongoing activities across all parts of the study and serve to inform st udy members about the updated boundary conditions from placement studies\, the latest machine parameters and progress on understanding the physics p otential that the FCC integrated programme can offer during its lifetime. Parallel sessions will focus on specific areas. The work carried out in t he framework of the FCC Feasibility Study will inform the next update of t he European Strategy and benefit society in areas beyond particle physics. We strongly encourage submission of proposals for posters via Indico on t he FCCW2024 site. Oral contributions are by invitation.FCCIS – The Futur e Circular Collider Innovation Study.
