Poets Owen Hill ("The Giveaway" and "Poison Begets Poison") and Andrew Levy ("Artiface in the Calm Damages" and new sonnets). Owen Hill, who was a long-time bookseller on staff at Moe's in Berkeley alongside Jonathan Lethem, will read poems from "Poison Begets Poison" and some prose fiction from "The Giveaway", a new compilation, with an introduction by Lethem, of three novels (two published and one -- Mayakovsky's Bugatti -- heretofore unpublished) about the Berkeley bohemian bookseller & sleuth Clay Blackburn.Andrew Levy’s recent collection is Artifice in the Calm Damages (Chax Press Books). He is the author of 15 collections of poetry and prose, including Don’t Forget to Breathe, Nothing Is in Here (novella), Ashoka, Democracy Assemblages, and Values Chauffeur You. His poems and essays have appeared in numerous American and international magazines and anthologies, including The Canary Islands Connection – 60 Contemporary American Poets; Resist Much, Obey Little – Inaugural Poems to The Resistance; and most recently Poetics-for-the-More-than-Human-World – An Anthology of Poetry & Commentary. His writing works on the intersections of class and the ecology of commerce, the digitalization of freedom and experimental music. A drummer, he works in collaboration with musicians and writers—Norman Fischer, Drew Gardner, Gerry Hemingway, Janice Lowe, and Julie Patton—on readings and performances.
