Yr5 Canberra Exc'n

Throughout the year, Year 5 have been learning about, ‘Indigenous Culture’, ‘Animal and Plant Adaptations’, and ‘Early Colonisation’ across our Key Learning Areas. To consolidate our learning and gain hands-on experience of these topics, an overnight excursion has been planned to Canberra. On Wednesday 9th and Thursday 10th, September, 2026, Year Five will be travelling to Canberra with Cowra Bus Service for an overnight excursion. The accommodation will be at ‘Eaglehawk Park Accommodation’. Students will participate in activities at the ‘Canberra Reptile Zoo’ where they will watch a show and be part of a tour, ‘Parliament House’ with a guided tour and hospitality session, ‘Zone Bowling’, ‘The National Museum of Australia’ where students will participate in a program called, ‘The Story of Our Country’ followed by a visit to ‘The National Arboretum’ and ‘Australian Institute of Sport’ to take part in a guided tour and ‘Sportex’ simulation experience.  Teachers accompanying Year Five children on the excursion will be Laura Moodie, Trinity Lavelle and Craig Jeffries. An itinerary and a list of what to bring will be sent home closer to the date. Please mark this date on your family calendar. The cost of this excursion is covered through inclusions in the school fees. Please be aware that students must be showing positive behaviour to attend the excursion. Medication and AllergiesWe are also getting prepared with medication and food allergies, which you are asked to inform staff prior to the excursion if this involves your child. Please provide travel medication if your child is prone to travel sickness. Please clearly label all medications with your child’s name, dosage and frequency in a see through snap lock bag. Consent to attend the excursion must be completed using compass by Friday 21st August. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this excursion please contact your child’s homeroom teacher.
