Sunkar • Test Flight

A Roscosmos Sunkar (Soyuz 5) rocket will lift off from Baikonur Cosmodrome on its first suborbital test flight. It will carry a mass-size evaluation model (GMM, Gruzovo-Masovoy Maket, Габаритно-массовый макет) instead of a payload. The Sunkar or Soyuz 5 rocket (Союз 5, aka Irtysh, formerly codenamed Fenix) is intended as a replacement for the Zenit 2 launcher and equipped with an RD-171MV engine on the first stage and two RD-0124MS engines on the second stage, with both stages using keroLOX as propellant. - Delayed from 2024, Dec. 24 and Mar. 31. Moved forward from Apr. 12. Delayed from Mar. 27, 29 and Apr. 2.
