(NET) PSLV XL • EOS 10 & IMJS

A NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV), flying on the PSLV-N1 mission in the PSLV XL configuration with six boosters, will launch the EOS 10 Earth observation satellite. Also aboard will be the IMJS (India Mauritius Joint Satellite), which is based on the INS-2 bus. - EOS 10 (EOS-10, formerly known as Oceansat 3A) is based on the IRS-1 bus and envisaged to provide service continuity for the operational users of OCM (Ocean Color Monitor) data from Oceansat 2 as well as to enhance the application potential in other areas. The prime objective of EOS X is to ensure the data continuity with improved payload specification of Ocean colour and wind vector data to sustain the operational applications. This satellite is expected to improve the applications by providing additional data such as Sea Surface Temperature (SST), with a higher number of bands in the optical and infrared region for atmospheric corrections. The 1117kg EOS X satellite is equipped with a scatterometer, 13 band Ocean Color Monitor (OCM-3) with spectral bandwidth of 10-20nm and better SNR, as well as a sea surface temperature monitor (SSTM-1). An ARGOS-4 payload of CNES will also fly on-board the satellite under international co-operation. The mission, in tandem with Oceansat 2 (on availability), will improve the repetitivity of ocean colour measurements to every 24 hour and wind vector measurements to every 12 hour. - Delayed from November.
