Curriculum integration has been an ongoing discussion in medical education, and specifically, whether horizontal integration should occur is relevant to biochemistry educators considering horizontal integration with other basic sciences. Although curricular integration has benefits, such as an in-depth conceptual understanding, educators need more innovative ideas to integrate between disciplines on a specific topic. Integrating a longer course is easier than integrating disciplines pertaining to a single topic.Objectives:At the conclusion of this activity, learners should be better able to:Appreciate benefits of horizontal integration and differentiate from vertical integration.Understand how to identify topics or sessions that could benefit from horizontal integration.Use framework to initiate novel integration opportunities.Identify benefits, challenges, and possible solutions for integration.
