Pink Shirt Day

Ellerslie School is proud to be taking part in Pink Shirt Day once again this year, on Friday 16 May 2025 (Week 3). This special day is about more than just wearing pink – it’s about coming together as a kura to Speak Up, Stand Together, and Stop Bullying. The kaupapa of Pink Shirt Day is centred around creating safe, inclusive environments where everyone feels accepted and valued. It’s a time to promote kindness, celebrate our diversity, and encourage our tamariki to be upstanders – those who speak out when they see unfair or unkind behaviour.Across the school, classes will take part in a range of activities designed to explore these themes in age-appropriate, engaging ways – from storytelling and art, to role-play and discussion. These activities will reflect our values and the importance of the 5B’s, which guide how we build respectful and positive friendships at Ellerslie School. How your child can take part:On Friday 16 May, students are encouraged to:Wear a pink t-shirt or pink accessory with their school uniformOr go all out and wear all pink!(Please note: this is not a full mufti day)We will also be collecting donations on Kindo HERE to support Voices of Hope, a New Zealand charity that promotes mental health awareness and well-being for young people. Let’s come together as a school community to uplift one another, celebrate what makes us unique, and stand against bullying in all its forms.
