 ʻulani is a ridge that extends into the wetland of Heʻeia and the site o
 f a collaborative restoration initiative between the non-profit organizati
 on Kākoʻo ʻŌiwi and the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. Staff and vo
 lunteers are working to restore native and culturally important plants\, p
 eoples' connection to place\, and important ecosystem benefits–like eros
 ion control\, carbon sequestration\, and resilience to climate change–to
  Puʻulani through multistory agroforestry. Research at Puʻulani seeks to
  understand how different metrics of restoration success change over the t
 ransition from non-native forest to culturally important agroforest and to
  inform best management practices. Today\, the plants growing at Puʻulani
  feed people not onlyphysically but also spiritually and intellectually–
 through their use in lei\, lāʻau lapaʻau (traditional Hawaiian medicine

 days occur in the loʻi on the first Saturday of each month from 8:30am 
 – 12pm.TO BE PREPAREDCome prepared for various tasks including→ weedin
 g invasive understory\, outplanting native shrubs and trees\, maintenance 
 of loʻi and ʻauwai and pruning/removing small invasive trees. Wear cloth
 es that can get muddy for work in the lo'i. Closed-toed shoes are recommen
 ded\, long sleeves/long pants recommended but not required. You are welcom
 e to bring swim clothes/towels for swimming in the river afterward.  Ple
 ase bring the following items with you on the workday: WaterLong pants/le
 ggings that you don’t mind getting dirtySun protectionCovered Shoes (hig

 esDIRECTIONS:Coming from Honolulu or the West sideHead to Windward Oʻahu 
 via H-3\, the Likelike\, or the Pali tunnels.  Turn North on Kamehameha H
 wy and continue past Kaneohe Shopping Center for about two minutes.  Our 
 farm driveway will be on your left\, just before the He’eia Stream Bridg

 PARKING AND ACCOMMODATIONS:  We will meet at the main facility\, ʻōpū
  nui before walking up together. We have several portapottyʻs located thr
 oughout the farm\, which are serviced twice a week.  We also have potable
  water but visitors are asked to bring their own drinking containers.  We
