DESCRIPTION:August 6th is the Feast of the Transfiguration (Hido d-Mtalé)
  according to the Liturgical Calendar of the Syriac Orthodox Church. It is
  also known as Koodara Perunaal. \n\nThe feast of the Transfiguration of o
 ur Lord is celebrated each year on August 6th which is forty days before t
 he Feast of the Discovery of the Holy Cross (S'hkohteh da-Slibo)\, because
  the transfiguration of the Lord took place\, according to one tradition\,
  forty days before His crucifixion. The Ma`de`dono (aanduthaksa\; Book of 
 Church Festivals)\, does not contain a special service for this feast in c
 ontrast to the other feasts of our Lord. However\, as with every Sunday th
 ere are daily offices from the Phanqitho along with special hymns for post
 -Gospel\, kasoloki\, & huthomo which reflect the Biblical tradition & theo
 logical significance of this day. \n\nHistorically\, the origin of this fe
 ast is related most likely to the Dedication of the churches of Mount Tabo
 r\, and was introduced into the Syriac Orthodox Liturgy in the seventh cen
 tury or possibly much later.\n\nThe feast commemorates the transfiguration
  or metamorphosis of Christ on Mount Tabor\, when our Lord appeared in His
  divine glory before the Apostles Peter\, James\, & John. Conversing with 
 Christ is the Prophet Elijah and Prophet Moses. It also represents symboli
 cally the transformation that happens in each individual & the whole creat
 ion by assimilating the salvation accomplished by Jesus Christ.\n\nFor det
