DESCRIPTION:March 18th is commemoration of the dhukrono of St. Cyril of Je
 rusalem (+386) according to the liturgical calendar of the Syriac Orthodox
  Church. \n\nMor Koorilose was born around 315AD in Jerusalem. He was orda
 ined priest by St.Maximus\, bishop of Jerusalem. \n\nPriest Cyril was entr
 usted with the instruction of the Catechumens & those who had received Bap
 tism. He is remembered for his "Catecheses" eighteen instructional address
 es given to the candidates for baptism during Lent\, & five given to the n
 ewly baptized after Easter. \n\nSt. Cyril became bishop of Jerusalem in 34
 9AD. This was at a time when there were troubles arising from Arianism. Th
 e Orthodox concept of the Holy Trinity– the threefold godhead of the Fat
 her\, the Son & the Holy Spirit was being challenged by Arians. St. Cyril 
 was an ardent supporter of St. Meletius Patriarch of Antioch (+381)\, who 
 defined the Son as of the same substance as the Father\; “three persons 
 are conceived in the mind\, but we speak as if addressing one” In the se
 cond ecumenical synod\, St. Cyril the bishop of Jerusalem\, took his place
  with the Patriarchs of Alexandria and Antioch. St. Cyril is considered as
  a doctor of the Church. He is not to be confused with St. Cyril of Alexan
 dria who is remembered in the 5th Dypthic (thubden). \n\nBiography Courtes
