DESCRIPTION:March 31st is the anniversary of the Patriarchal election of H
 is Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II. \n\nFollowing the demise of 
 late Patriarch His Holiness Patriarch Moran Mor Ignatius Zakka Iwas I of b
 lessed memory\, a Holy Synod of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church was c
 onvened to determine his successor. \n\nThe synod was held at St. Jacob Ba
 radeus Monastery in Atchaneh\, Lebanon. It was presided by HB Mor Baselios
  Thomas I (Bavathirumeni) Catholicos & Mor Severius Jamil who was selected
  as Patriarchal Locum Tenens. \n\nOn March 31st 2014\, guided by the Holy 
 Spirit the Holy Synod of the Syriac Orthodox Church elected Mor Cyril Aphr
 em Karim (then Metropolitan of the Archdiocese of the Syriac Orthodox Chur
 ch for the Eastern United States) as the 122nd successor to St. Peter on t
 he Holy See of Antioch and all the East. \n\nBarekmor Moran! Our heartfelt
  felicitations on this blessed day. May Moriyo Aloho bless Your Holiness a
