DESCRIPTION:The Great Feast of the Ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ comm
 emorates our Lord Jesus Christ's departure from this world after his forty
  days of resurrection appearances wit his disciples. This feast expresses 
 the absolute Lordship of Christ as Jesus is exalted and enthroned above ev
 ery principality and power\, as He ascends into the heavens. This feast al
 so celebrates a command and a promise. The command is the "Great Commissio
 n"\; just before his Ascension\, Jesus commanded his Apostles to "go and m
 ake disciples of all peoples." The promise is the promise of the gift of t
 he Holy Spirit\, which will transform the community of disciples into a Li
 ving Temple of God's presence.
