 yriac Orthodox Church.Today's reading from St. Luke is once again the stor
 y of feeding the multitude of 5000 with just 5 loaves and two fish\, as re
 ad in last week's Gospel of St. Matthew. St. Cyril of Alexandria in his ho
 milies\, has written about this passage in great detail. The following is 
 just a small excerpt to meditate upon: "For the blessed disciples besought
  Christ that those who were following Him\, having had their requests gran
 ted them\, might be sent away\, and disperse as they best could. But He co
 mmanded them to supply them with food. The thing\, however\, was impossibl
 e in the eyes of the disciples\, for they had brought nothing with them bu
 t five loaves and two fishes: and this they drew near and confessed to Him
 . To magnify\, therefore\, the greatness of the miracle\, and make it in e
 very way evident that He is in His own nature God\, He multiplies that lit
 tle many times\, and looks up to heaven to ask a blessing from above\, bei
 ng intent in this also upon our good. For He is Himself That which filleth
  all things\, being the blessing that cometh from above from the Father."T
