The Tranche 1 satellites (codenamed ?) on this flight are for th e Transport Layer and were built by ?. The mission is designated as SDA-T1 TR-B. Vulcan will fly in the VC4S? vehicle configuration with a double-en gine Centaur upper stage\, four solid rocket boosters and a standard fairi ng.\n-\nOnce fully operational\, the SDA Tracking Layer will consist of a proliferated heterogeneous constellation of Wide Field of View (WFOV) spac e vehicles (SVs) that provide persistent global coverage and custody capab ility combined with the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Hypersonic and Ballis tic Tracking Space Sensor (HBTSS) Medium Field of View (MFOV) SVs that pro vide precision global access capability. This set of contract awards will initiate the development of the first eight low-cost proliferated WFOV SVs . The capability demonstrated by the Tracking Layer Tranche 0 will provide missile warning and tracking information to national defense authorities\ , and tracking and cueing data for missile defense elements. Each satellit e will have a “wide field of view” overhead persistent infrared (OPIR) sensor capable of detecting and tracking advanced missile threats from lo w Earth orbit. The satellites will also be equipped with optical crosslink s to pass data to the Transport Layer relay satellites.\nThe first phase o f SDA’s Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture consists of 28 satell ites (Tranche 0 including 20 communications payloads made by Lockheed Mart in and York Space\, and eight missile-tracking infrared sensor satellites made by SpaceX and Leidos) as a proof of concept for the missile tracking and data relay network\, followed by more than 150 additional satellites t o provide an initial operational capability. In total\, Tranche 1 will con sist of 154 operational satellites: 126 in the transport layer developed b y York\, Northrop Grumman\, and Lockheed Martin\, and 28 focused on missil e warning and tracking developed by Northrop Grumman and L3Harris. Combini ng conventional tactical radio links\, laser inter-satellite communication s\, and wide-view infrared sensors\, hundreds more SDA spacecraft could la unch later as the Pentagon ramps up efforts and integrates new capabilitie s.\n-\nDelayed from June and September.
