His full biography is below. This should be a great event for students and teachers\, with a shorter playing opportunity in bo th sessions towards the end of the sessions and audience or audience plus ensemble playing will be free for current AUSTA members. If places fill\, please email organiser Helen Tuckey helenvla@b igpond.net.au to go on the waiting list\, or also for further enquiries. A fter the master class section has ended\, violists of all levels can play in the multi-level ensemble reading session\, so please bring your viola. Solo performer places include entrance for your accompanist\, another adul t audience member and ensemble participation in one or both sessions. It i s assumed that all solo performers will join the ensemble reading session. Solo performers are responsible for organising their own accompanists\, a nd works may be unaccompanied\, or accompanied by piano\, or by a second s tring player (duet). There are two timeslots available. For the 15m timesl ot\, choose a work approximately 5m or less in length. For the 20m timeslo t\, choose a work of 10m or less in length. Video recordings may be made only with permis sion of the performer and their family.https://www.trybooking.com/events/l anding/1442767?qr=true&\;qr=true About Daniel:Daniel has been a member of Bayerische Staatsoper Orchestra in Munich and held principal positions with the Royal Flemish Philharmonic and the Royal Opera Orchestra “La Mo nnaie" in Brussels under the baton of Philippe Herreweghe and Antonio Papp ano. He has also appeared as guest principal with the Munich Chamber Orche stra\, the Orchestre des Champs Élysées Paris and the Opera Australia Or chestra.Born in Germany\, Daniel began his music studies with violin and p iano. He studied viola with Bruno Giuranna at the University of the Arts i n Berlin\, completing his Master's Degree. His intensive study of chamber music includes lessons with Franco Gulli and Joseph Silverstein.He was the violist in the Lenos String Quartet\, which won the National German Music Competition. He has performed with Lenos throughout Europe and performanc es have been broadcast on SR Kultur\, NDR2 (Germany) and Radio DRS (Switze rland).As a chamber musician he has performed at numerous festivals in Eur ope\, the UK\, South Korea and Japan. In Australia he has appeared at the Melbourne Recital Centre\, performing Schumann's Piano Quintet with Emanue l Ax\, Wilma Smith\, Dale Barltrop and David Berlin.Daniel Schmitt plays a viola made in 1964 by Otto A.
