Transcripts provide an a lternative way for users to consume information\, allowing visual learners to process auditory data better and enabling students to read faster than they can listen (which is particularly helpful when they are short on tim e). Furthermore\, these tools support situational accessibility\, such as when a student is in a noisy environment or needs to maintain silence. The y also enhance study efficiency by making content searchable\, allowing st udents to quickly locate specific medical terms\, and by enabling text sel ection for easy definition lookups or translation. This workshop will empo wer faculty and staff to move beyond simply "checking a box" and shift ins tead towards a more proactive approach to designing truly inclusive and fl exible learning content.Objectives:At the conclusion of this activity\, le arners should be better able to:Navigate to and use the editing interfaces of Panopto and/or Yuja to perform essential captioning tasks.Recall unive rsal accessibility standards for creating and editing captions and transcr ipts.Identify and remediate errors in automatically generated captions dur ing a live demonstration.Consider a shift to a proactive instructional des ign strategy that prioritizes "caption-friendly" content creation (as oppo sed to retrofitted\, reactive approaches to ADA content remediation).
