 ary\, 'The Spies Among Us.' This documentary tells the life story of Dr. 
 Peter Keup\, a historian and contemporary witness who lives and works in B
 erlin and Essen (Germany)\, illustrating how the repressive system of the 
 SED dictatorship and the Ministry for State Security (Stasi) operated. For
  the first time\, the film brings the perspectives of perpetrators and vic
 tims into such extensive and powerful confrontation.Above all\, the encoun
 ter with the last head of the Stasi reveals that the ideology of the Stasi
  still lives on and remains influential. Today\, Peter Keup works as a res
 earch associate at the UOKG e.V. (Union of Victims' Associations of Commun
 ist Tyranny)\, advocating for victims of the SED dictatorship. His current
  work focuses in particular on the recognition of victims of forced prison
  labor in the GDR penal system\, from which German and international compa
 nies such as IKEA\, Aldi\, and Otto profited.At the same time\, Keup also 
 seeks dialogue with former perpetrators as part of the ongoing process of 
 historical reckoning. This confrontation makes it clear that black-and-whi
 te thinking is of little help — what is needed is a clear moral stance a
 nd open communication.His recently published doctoral dissertation at the 
 University of Bonn\, titled “Wie aus Opfern Täter wurden” (How Victim
 s Became Perpetrators)\, addresses this complex topic. The study explores 
 the interplay between perpetrators and victims\, uncovering mechanisms and
  instruments of influence and repression\, and exposing the many forms of
