DESCRIPTION:Clive Matson\, Beat Poet will read from his newest collection
 : Hello Paradise\, Paradise Goodbye (New Beat Poetry Publishing\, 2025).
  He began as a poet among the Beats in 1960s Greenwich Village. He was men
 tored and influenced by Allen Ginsberg\, John Wieners\, Diane di Prima\, A
 lden Van Buskirk\, Michael McClure\, and Herbert Huncke.  He is the autho
 r of nine volumes of poetry and the creative writing tutorial “Let The C
 razy Child Write!” and has been a creative writing teacher for 40 years.
   Recipient of the Berkeley Lifetime Achievement in Poetry Award in 2012\
 ,  named the Best East Bay Writing Teacher in 2006\, received a PEN Oakla
 nd Josephine Miles National Award in 2003\, and was honored as a Lifetime 
 Beat Laureate in 2023 by the National Beat Poetry Foundation. Karen Pierc
 e Gonzalez\, an award-winning writer/poet and artist\, will read her rece
 ntly published  Moon kissed\, Earth wrought\, Vision drunk (Bottlecap P
 ress 2025) Her six chapbooks also include Down River with Li Po (Black

 ne\, he draws on the lyricism of Wayne Shorter and Lester Young\; on saxop
 hone\, he's internalized the rhythm-centered approaches of Ahmad Jamal\, E
 rroll Garner\, Duke Ellington and Thelonious Monk.\n\nLuke\, also a native
 \, is a guitarist\, bassist\, pianist\, composer\, and arranger\, who spen
 t time in New Orleans and New York and returned to San Francisco several y

 st Max Bessesen\, bassist Ethan Philion\, and drummer Devin Drobka. \n \
 nThe group formed during the height of the pandemic when Philion and Besse
 sen coped with their lack of performance opportunities by exploring advent
 urous new repertoire and free improvisation together. When restrictions we
 re lifted the duo reunited with longtime-collaborator Devin Drobka and the
  unit began to collaborate on new music and to perform this material publi
 cly. \n \nLove Call performs several times a year ever since 2021 even t
 hough the group members live in different cities (New York\, Chicago\, Mi
 lwaukee). The trio has a distinctive musical approach marked by a congenia
 l sense of trust and a unique\, intuitive group language. Their performan
 ces feature free improvisation and compositions by each member of the grou
