Duke of Ed - Dubbo Stampede Running Festival

As part of the physical activity component of the Duke of Edinburgh Award your child has the opportunity to participate in the 5km Dingo Dash at the Dubbo Stampede Running Festival.Students are to meet Mr Andrew Phelan in the church carpark at St Raphael’s Catholic School at 12pm on Saturday 6th September.The group will travel to Dubbo, in the school bus driven by Mr Andrew Phelan, to pick up race bibs and water bottles by approximately 3pm.Once the group has picked up race bibs and water bottles, we will proceed to our campsite accommodation at NRMA Holiday Park Dubbo. Enclosed swags or tents are suitable. Dinner will be provided.Marshalling for the 5km Dingo Dash begins at 9.30 am on Sunday 7th September for a 9.45 am Start. This year, the start and finish of the race is at Ollie Robins Oval by the Macquarie River.During the 5km Dingo Dash students will be encouraged to run in groups with students of the same ability level and to carry asthma puffers if required. Water stations are provided along the course.After the race, students will meet as a group at a designated area near the finish line and will be able to purchase breakfast.Once the students have recovered from the race and had breakfast, we may do a tour of Taronga Western Plains Zoo in the school bus and return to St Raphael’s Catholic School by approximately 5pm.Students should consider bringing the following:Enclosed swag and or tentPillowSleeping bagHead torchWarm clothesRunning clothes - shorts, t-shirt, socks, joggers, hat, sunglassesSunscreenInsect repellentPlate, knife, fork, spoon, cupTowel for shower and toiletries First aid itemsClean clothes to change into after the 5km Dingo DashPersonal medicationSnacksMoney to purchase breakfast and lunch at the zooTo register for the 5km Dingo Dash with the Dubbo Stampede Running Festival please do so at https://www.dubbostampede.com.au/#a-running-festival-for-everyone-1. Early bird registrations for the 5km Dingo Dash are $20 and end on 30th June. At this point registration fees will increase to $30.If you would like your child to participate in this excursion please provide consent and payment via Compass by Friday 8th August 2025.
