St. Zenobius

Disciple of St. Ephrem the Syrian and teacher of St. Isaac of Antioch.History of Syriac Literature and Sciences (1e): "Zenobius was a deacon at the church of Edessa. He is known as "The Jazri" either in relation to the Upper Jazira, i.e., the country of the Banu Rabi'a, or because at the beginning of his career he was a soldier; but not in relation to the Jazirat ibn Umar, which was not inhabited at that time. Zenobius wrote down the biography of his master and also wrote letters and treatises in refutation of Marcion and Famphilius. Bar Kipha cited him twice in his Book of the Six Days."BL17134
