On Radcliffe Day 2025—Friday, May 9—Harvard Radcliffe Institute will award the Radcliffe Medal to Jodie Foster, the Academy Award–winning actress and filmmaker. Each year, the Institute awards the Radcliffe Medal to an individual who embodies Radcliffe’s commitment to excellence and impact. The medal was first awarded to Lena Horne in 1987; recent honorees include Sonia Sotomayor, Ophelia Dahl, Sherrilyn Ifill, Melinda French Gates, and Dolores Huerta. This year, we celebrate Jodie Foster’s barrier-breaking career, which has contributed to important progress in an industry that has long been male dominated, inspiring countless individuals in and beyond her field. In addition to her work in front of and behind the camera, she has advanced efforts to improve the safety and well-being of LGBTQ+ young people.RSVP: https://www.radcliffe.harvard.edu/event/radcliffe-day-202512:30 PM Tent Opens1:30 PM Radcliffe Day Panel Discussion3 PM Testimonial, Keynote Conversation, and Radcliffe Medal Ceremony4:30 PM Community ReceptionAs part of the 25th anniversary year of the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, the traditional lunch portion of the program will be replaced with a celebratory community reception following the Radcliffe Medal ceremony.#radday25The program will begin with a panel on the representation of women in film, featuring industry and scholarly perspectives on the importance of such representation throughout the industry, gender and age stereotypes, role modeling, how films illuminate social issues and can effect change, and future opportunities for progress.
