Nation of Hawaiʻi - Work Day w/Sustainable Coastlines

The Nation of Hawaiʻi, Pu‘uhonua o Waimānalo Saturday Workday Counts for 4 hours of service for MINA participants. Be sure to sign in on site with the MINA representative on site. If no representative is present, please treat this as an INDIVIDUAL ACTIVITY - take photo of before, during, and after work and send to csssl@hawaii.edu for proof of service.DUAL REGISTRATION REQUIREDRegister here with the Nation of Hawaiʻi/Sustainable Coastlines. Registration is limited and a follow-up email will be sent after registering. You must register for this event to participate. Please do not bring anyone if they have not registered ahead of time.Sign up with MINA on the MINA Activity Registration form.WHAT TO EXPECTJoin us and Nation of Hawaiʻi for an ʻāina workday! The day will consist of removing invasive plants, planting native plants, cleaning up rubbish, and talking story.We will start off by introducing ourselves and talking story about the place we are entering. Afterwards, we will split up to remove invasives, plant natives, or clean up rubbish in the surrounding area.We ask that you come ready to learn with an open mind. All supplies will be provided, but please bring your own reusable water bottle and sun protection. Come for the good work, stay for the laughs, and leave knowing you’ve made a real difference!WHAT TO BRINGA full reusable water bottleReef-safe sun protection (hat, long sleeve shirt, reef-safe sunscreen, etc.)Bug repellent*If you have pickaxes or sickles to bring, these help with removing some invasive plants. Please label and keep track of the tools you bring with you, as we cannot be responsible for any lost or stolen items. All other tools and supplies will be provided.WHAT TO WEARWe may be working with large, heavy debris and likely some rusted metal.
