Yr1 with Dinnawan's Connection

During this semester in History, Year 1 students have been learning about the past by engaging with stories, images, objects and sites. To reinforce this content, we have organised a full day excursion which incorporates a discovery walk to Bellevue Hill. Our day will begin by catching the bus to Bellevue Hill and looking at local landmarks on the way. We will have some recess at the park, have a play on the equipment at the Adventure Playground and walk up to the look out. Kiri Hubber, our Aboriginal Education Worker, will talk to us about sacred sites in the Cowra area and take a walk through the park to see some scar trees and rock paintings. Jarred Burns, Chris Colemane and the Gagamin Birrang Group will then join us to teach some special Aboriginal dances in the dance circle. We will then have some lunch and playtime before catching the bus back to school in the afternoon. We might even get to try some kangaroo meatballs that Mr Hubber is hoping to cook us on the BBQ.Cost - NilWhen - Thursday 8th MayTime - Depart 10:15am from schoolReturn - 2.45pm to schoolWhat to wear - Instead of wearing sports uniform on Tuesday week 2, students are asked to please wear their sport uniform on Thursday for the excursion. It is also very important that everyone wears their school hat, joggers and sunscreen.Students will need to bring recess and lunch in their school backpacks.  There will be no canteen orders on this day.
