Free Film Screening With Panel DiscussionJoin us for a free film screening of CURED, a documentary that tells about the pivotal yet largely unknown moment in the struggle for LGBT equality: the American Psychiatric Association's 1973 decision to remove homosexuality from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM). Combining eyewitness testimony with newly unearthed archival footage, the film reveals how a small group of impassioned activists achieved this unexpected victory.Following the screening, stay for a conversation with one of the award winning Directors and local mental health providers about the real mental health challenges our queer communities face today.We’re honored to welcome Dr. Marshall Forstein, Film Director Bennet Singer, and community member Shirley Royster as panelists. Dr. Forstein was present at Stonewall and became one of Boston’s first physicians to actively treat HIV patients. Bennett Singer is a Emmy-nominated filmmaker, book editor, and former executive editor of TIME Magazine's education program.
