Join the church family for our 5th annual flotilla! This year, we'll float 12 miles of the Knik River between Mile 6 of Knik River Road and the Eklutna Tailrace. We'll use rafts, kayaks and canoes that can safely navigate the current of this glacier fed river. Don't have a boat but still want to come? Or have a boat, but can't go? Let us know and we'll get you together!The Plan: Drop off boats and people at Mile 6 Knik River Road at 10am. We will shuttle nearly all vehicles to the Tailrace, located near mile 3.5 of the Old Glenn Hwy, where there is more parking. Once drivers are brought back to Mile 6, we will start the flotilla around 10:45am. The float is estimated to end sometime between 3 and 4pm.Things to bring: Boats, paddles, swimsuits, sunscreen, weather appropriate clothing, lunch and/or snacks, water, and life vests for everyone.Contact Katie Ward (970-201-3152) with questions about the float. Please RSVP to Sarah Jensen (907-863-4010) by July 31 letting her know you'll be coming and/or if you have a canoe, raft, or kayak that you could lend to someone else. This trip is weather dependent. Your RSVP will help you know about changes to the flotilla in the case of inclement weather. Hope to see you on the water!
