The March 8 concertcontinues the Year of the Piano and begins the celebration of America’s 250thanniversary. In Jacob’s presentation at 10:30 on February 28, we will examinethe music of Florence Price including her Concerto in D Minor, whichwill be performed by Russian Pianist and rising piano star Osip Nikiforov. Wewill discover what inspired composer Ethel Smyth as we review the overture toher tragic three-part opera, The Wreckers, and understand thethemes behind the music of Margaret Bonds by focusing on her famous MontgomeryVariations.
