St. Mary, Anne, Elizabeth.Friday of Confessors ('rubto d-mawdyone) according to the Liturgical Calendar of the Syriac Orthodox Church in Malankara.Confessors are all those individuals who continued to "confess" that Jesus was Lord despite the afflictions & persecutions they faced. (Mor Severios Mushe Bar Kifo +903; Syriac theologian & malfono of the Church). They are the men & women whom have suffered for their faith (usually physical torture, but other types of loss as well) but were not killed & are therefore distinguished from those who attained the crown of martyrdom (sohde). In the Syriac Orthodox Liturgical Calendar, the Friday after Easter during Bright Week ('rubto d'Hevorae) is dedicated to the Confessors. However, within Syriac Christianity the Confessors are given another interpretation. They are those whom were raised from the graves by Christ who descended to Sheol. They make their confession, proclaiming the glory of Christ & then return to their graves.
