Host:  Zhu ChenDavid KaplanTufts University “Sustainable Plastics and Living Materials for the Future” Thursday, November 13, 2025, 11:30 a.m.LGRT 201& Zoom Virtual SeminarUMass Amherst (Email wallace@ecs.umass.edu for Zoom Link) AbstractTBDBioDavid Kaplan is the Stern Family Endowed Professor of Engineering at Tufts University and a Distinguished University Professor, and a Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering.  His research focus is on biopolymer engineering to understand structure-function relationships for biomaterials, tissue engineering and cellular agriculture.  He has published over 1,000 peer reviewed publications, he is the editor-in-chief of ACS Biomaterials Science and Engineering, and he serves on many editorial boards and programs for journals and universities.  He has also received a number of awards for his research and teaching, he was Elected Fellow American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering, he received the Society for Biomaterials Clemson Award for contributions to the literature, and he was elected to the National Academy of Inventors and to the National Academy of Engineering.
