Steinmann writes, "The album is a musical expression of a harrowing personal experience. On October 7th, 2023, a stray bullet exploded through the window of my home - an uninvited rupture of brutality that left no physical wounds, but echoed through my life with emotional weight. This album channels that moment into a raw, blend of jazz, blues, rock, metal, and improvisational fire, with each note bearing witness to vulnerability, resilience, and introspection. This isn’t simply a recounting of trauma, it’s about reclaiming it - weaving chaos into art that speaks to the fragility of safety and the strength of creative survival." Steinmann is prolific in performance, recording and releasing, and admired for his "genre-defying style, technical prowess, and deep emotional expression. "https://youtu.be/Rys1lNd1Ng0?si=0szz1NN9htdpdll0https://youtu.be/cvawZPo-hi0?si=hu8tveIkh1kYNQDpBassist Giulio Xavier Cetto's arrival from the Central Valley a decade ago immediately established him as a major player on the local jazz scene; he travels widely and crosses genre boundaries spectacularly and without hesitation. Adam Hersh and Benjamin Ring, on piano and drums, respectively, will be up from Los Angeles to flesh out Steinmann's rhythm section. Hersh grew up just north of LA, studied at Cal State Northridge and has traveled widely since; Ring has Bay Area roots, where he came up through the Oaktown Jazz Workshops, the Berkeley Jazzschool's Middle School Jazz Ensemble and the SF Jazz High School All-Stars before heading for USC and UCLA and embarking on his professional career. Cody Steinmann is originally from Wisconsin, where he began his formal music training at Milwaukee Area Technical College, where he earned an Associate’s Degree in Music Occupations. He later attended the University of Wisconsin – Parkside, supported by the prestigious Rita Tallent Picken scholarship. Steinmann has studied under an impressive roster of mentors, including Steve Peplin, Russ Johnson, JD Allen, Solomon Parham, Jesse Catalino Montijo, Ari Honig, Johannes Weidenmueller, Scott Hesse, and Pete Mccan among others.
