An empaneled sarod artist of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and an All India Gold medalist in Instrumental Music, Souryadeep is a premier "Gandabandhan" disciple of the legendary sarod artist Guru Pt. Alok Lahiri and also takes regular musical guidance from his Gurudada, the brilliant sarod artist Sri Abhisek Lahiri. Rooted in the rich traditions of the Maihar gharana, Souryadeep's unique style seamlessly blends influences of other sarod gharanas into soulful, technically brilliant performances that capture the timeless beauty of Hindustani classical music and captivate audiences worldwide. A versatile musician, Souryadeep has also been an integral part of several World Music collaborations across various genres. Souryadeep will be accompanied on tabla by Ferhan Qureshi, a disciple of the legendary tabla maestro Ustad Tari Khan.This will be an intimate experience presented by the nonprofit, independent bookstore Bird and Beckett in San Francisco.
