Year 9 Guided Choices Subject Evening

On Thursday 22nd January from 5pm to 7pm students andparents are warmly invited to our Guided Choices Subject information evening. Signup via the emailed form.There are three parts to the evening:  Welcome presentation and overview of the process 5pm and again at 6.05pm Subject presentations in middle floor classrooms – A program of presentations and opportunities to speak to teachers Subject stalls in the Activity Studio and Canteen  It is an opportunity for you to ask questions of subject teachersabout their courses. Students will then be asked to provide their initial preferences on Friday 23rd Januarywhich helps us create option blocks for the timetable to maximise studentsatisfaction across the year group. Overview of upcoming Guided Choices events: Week commencing Monday 19th January – Guided Choices Week Teachers will introduce GCSE courses during lessons Year 9 Assembly: Overview of new subjects such as Business Studies, Health & Social Care, Media Studies Options booklet shared as physical booklet and emailed to families as a PDF document  Week commencing Thursday 22nd January Subject & Careers Information Evening (17:00–19:00, School Hall andclassrooms) Presentation from Mr Alex Evans and Mrs Lisa Whitworth Visit small group presentations on all guided choice subjects Meet subject teachers and careers advisors Explore course content and future pathways Week commencing Monday 2nd February We will share the option blocks that guide student choices with students and parents. Students will be emailed access to the Guided Choices online form and will have five days to express their preferences. Parents will be emailed the same day to confirm that this email has been sent to students. Completing the form at home: You will have three days to complete the form at home with your child. Completing the form at school: If by Thursday morning the form has not been completed students will be supported to complete the form in school before the end of the week.Friday 6th February The deadline for submitting guided choices.  All students will have completed this preferences form either at home or in school. Mr D'ONeillHead of French and Guided Choices LeadSidmouth College
