Bonus show-and-tell of an adventure in exploring video streaming services, figuring out how they work by using a web browser, command line, and open source tools, along with a professional background in streaming media infrastructure. It turns out "alt" media sites that are popular with fringe and conservative content creators are particularly open to exploring the video infrastructure. Theron will tell the story of what caused him to dig into all of this, give some background in how streaming video is done on the internet, how sites can (but often do not) protect themselves against abuse, and demonstrate all of this on a live video asset in real time. Open to the public, but this is an in-person only event.
