A China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology (CALT) Long March (Chang Zheng) CZ-8A rocket will launch a batch of 9 Hulianwang Digui satellites for the China SatNet Guowang internet constellation into orbit. Guowang satellites either use the mega-constellation's small satellite platform, weighing about 695kg each, or a large satellite platform, around 30% bigger and weighing up to 1 tonne. Both platforms utilize electric propulsion systems to maneuver in orbit, powered by two solar panels. This mission is known as SatNet LEO Group 24? (卫星互联网低轨24?组) and the satellites are designated as Xingwang Digui 24?A/B/C/D/E/F/G/H/I, and were built on the small platform. - The Guowang satellite program can carry a variety of payloads, including broadband communication payloads, laser communication payloads, synthetic aperture radar payloads, optical remote sensing payloads, and others, to meet the needs of different users and scenarios. It offers comprehensive technical support across numerous fields such as maritime and aviation operations, information security, navigation and positioning, and meteorological research, while also enabling expansion into the global satellite internet access market. The eventual constellation is expected to grow to 12992 satellites. This will be made up of 6080 in the low orbit GW-A59 sub-constellation at altitudes below 500km, offering initial broadband coverage. The rest will orbit in the higher GW-A2 sub-constellation at 1145 km, providing a more global reach.
