Write a Book in a Day 2025 Event Information on Compass:Write a Book in a Day is a fun and creative team writing competition for students in years 7 - 11 with some very unique aspects: It involves a collaborative team effort, where students plan, write and illustrate a book, all in one day!Additional event details:Dear Parent/Guardian,Your child has nominated to join a team who will be participating in this year’s Write a Book in a Day competition to be held on Wednesday 3rd September, Week 7.Write a Book in a Day is a fun and creative team writing competition for students in Years 6 - 11 with some very unique aspects. It allows students to develop their creativity, communication, teamwork and time-management skills. Important Information:It involves a collaborative team effort, where students plan, write and illustrate a book.Students will be participating in their team in the MSLC building for the duration of the day.Every story grows from a unique set of parameters that are given to each writing team the morning of the competition.The book must be completed within the day; we have chosen to compete from 7:00am – 5:30pm. This means students must arrive at school by 6:40am for roll marking and organisation prior to the competition commencing.Completed books are shared digitally with children in hospitals across Australia as the competition aims to raise funds for The Kids Cancer Project.Students will be provided with some snacks on the day, however are advised to bring their own recess, lunch, water bottle and additional snacks to eat throughout the day.Students will be provided with most materials required for the competition, however they would be advised to bring their pencil case and personal laptop/device if they have one.
