San Francisco Alumni: Investing with Social Impact: Redefining Risk, Return, and Social Impact

Co-hosted by Haas Alumni Network, San Francisco Chapter, BlackRock Green Team Network, and NTU Alumni Network of West Coast. DATE & TIME: Feb 19th. Doors open: 3:30pm. Speaking event: 4-5pm. Networking time to follow. LOCATION: BlackRock, 400 Howard Street, San Francisco. Identification required for building entrance. Investing with Impact: Redefining Risk, Return, and Impact in Modern Portfolio Strategy Profit maximization and social impact have long been framed as diametrically opposed in finance. This panel explores why that view is changing—and what it means for today’s investors. Designed for Haas alumni & friends of all backgrounds, this inclusive event especially welcomes those new to ESG or impact investing. No prior background in ESG or impact strategies is required. Our panelists—deploying capital across venture, growth equity, and specialized strategies—bring data, deal flow insights, and hard-won lessons from the front lines of this transformation: Jessica Huang, Managing Director and ESG Lead for Private Equity and Secondaries at Ares Management, will discuss how sustainability themes are shaping the broader PE industry. Hannah Tikalsky, Head of Ecosystem at Reservoir, offers a perspective on sector-specific impact strategies in agriculture, where innovation meets urgent global need and massive rural opportunity. Melissa Zhang, Principal at Azimuth Capital Management, brings institutional capital deployment and project development expertise to questions of impact measurement in today’s energy transition. The panel will be moderated by Navgeet King Zed (King), CEO of OMECE Venture Studios, a purpose-driven venture studio demonstrating that impact and alpha generation need not be opposing forces. Whether you are exploring impact investing for the first time or looking to better understand how ESG and impact fit into modern portfolio strategy, this panel offers a clear, accessible way to learn from experienced practitioners. The event is free. Drinks will be provided. Questions? Contact Qiao Zhou -  qiao_zhou@mfe.berkeley.eduRegister<location-name>San Francisco, CA</location-name><event-type>Chapter Events</event-type>
