Host: Nathaniel Porter Make your first lesson contribution, even if you feel like you have no idea what you're doing! At the Carpentries, we have amazing teams of lesson developers and maintainers that keep curriculum updated and improving. But instructors and learners are at the front lines of understanding what works and what doesn't in our lessons, and we rely on you for contributions too! This 1-hour session provides hands-on, no-nonsense, training in the basics of contributing to Carpentries lessons through Github - using issues, pull requests, and comments - with no need for programming, just using the Github website. In addition, we'll provide some tips based on experience as to what kinds of contributions are most likely to be implemented. In the spirit of the Carpentries' values and teaching philosophy, you will have the opportunity to practice during the session. If you have an idea in mind to submit, come ready to share, but don't worry if you don't have anything in mind already - we'll help you find a way to contribute. You will not need any software installed, but you will need a GitHub account. If you don't have one already, please visit https://github.com before the session to register. This is a Community Session.Instructor trainees can attend this event as part of their checkout requirements ('Get Involved' step).
