Early Career Teacher Program Y2 South

Venue: Murphy Room, Archdiocese of HobartCourse SynopsisThe Early Career Teacher program is facilitated over a 3-year timeframe. The programcommences with Induction/Orientation to Catholic Education which all teachers new toCatholic Education in Tasmania are required to attend. The Program is aligned to theAITSL Induction Process, AITSL’s Professional Standards for Teachers and CET’sAccreditation Framework - Formation for Mission Pathways to Work, Teach and TeachReligious Education in Catholic School. The Early Career Teacher program will supportteachers to gain Accreditation B, to develop beyond graduate standard and to move fromprovisional teacher registration to full teacher registration with the Teachers RegistrationBoard Tasmania. The Early Career Teacher program should be strongly supported by arobust school-based induction program which includes working with a school-basedPractice Focused Mentor.The course aims to:• Welcome graduate teachers to Catholic Education in Tasmania and support their development and growth as teachers in Catholic schools• Familiarise graduate teachers with the (AITSL) Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and facilitate reflection on areas of effectiveness and potential development• Support graduate teachers as they move from Tasmanian TRB Provisional Registration to Full Registration.• Encourage participants to apply newly-acquired knowledge in the context of their school.• Cultivate an inquiry mindset where graduate teachers are responsive and build on their successes, whilst working alongside their colleagues• Foster an outlook of lifelong learning with longer-term consideration for future career development• Invest in and build graduate teacher capacity, wellbeing and resilience.Anticipated OutcomesOn completing the first year of the Early Career Teacher program, it is anticipated thatTeachers are:• Developing positive professional relationships• Establishing their professional Identity • Building professional practices• Confidently facilitating student learning• Building skills and knowledge about evidence-based teaching strategies and measuringtheir impact. Alignment to AITSL StandardsStandard 1 - Know students and how they learn, Standard 2 - Know the content and howto teach it, Standard 3 - Plan and implement effective teaching and learning, Standard 4 -Create and maintain supportive and safe environments, Standard 5 - Assess, providefeedback and report on student learning, Standard 6 - Engage in professional learning,Standard 7 - Engage professionally with colleagues, parents/carers and the communityService Responsible: CIEAttendees: Teachers in their second year of teachingContact person: Angela GethinEmail: cieadmin@catholic.tas.edu.au
