Boots on the Ground – Resistant Entrepreneurship This workshop is designed for migrant and diasporic creatives from the Global South who want to initiate or strengthen their creative entrepreneurship. Many workshops support people in starting a business, but they often lack an understanding of the perspectives, realities, and challenges migrants, non-hegemonic people, and those working outside dominant economic and cultural systems face. The workshop will be led by Natalia García-Fuentes, a USYD researcher exploring alternative forms of entrepreneurship, particularly models rooted in Latin American practices that resist traditional capitalist economic relations. Concepts such as autogestión and cooperativism will guide the sessions, giving creatives the tools to plan and structure their businesses with intention, build sustainable practices, and explore the emancipatory potential of creating their own livelihoods within a community-based framework.
